Fair-Chance Implementation Case Studies For Government Agencies

This policy brief highlights fair-chance-hiring laws in San Francisco, Seattle and the District of Columbia, which include “ban the box” and additional reforms to ensure qualified jobseekers with conviction records are evaluated on their merits first.

This brief provides an in-depth review of the enforcement and implementation of these laws in each jurisdiction and is intended to support government agency efforts to reduce barriers to employment for people with records. The lessons learned and best practices synthesized from these three case studies are provided in a companion publication that is available here.
